Jeffery Lee Anderson July 23, 1951 — April 30, 2015

About a week before he died, Jill and I had been praying for the comfort of my friend, Jeff Anderson, who was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer about a month ago.

He wasn’t feeling well and his back was bothering him. Also, Jeff was excessively tired so he went to the doctor for some relief.

After numerous tests, the doctor informed Jeff he had about a month to live because a very aggressive type of cancer had spread throughout his body.

About two weeks before Jeff left us, Marlene–Jeff’s wife–stopped by on a Sunday afternoon to visit us and let us know about his situation.

We went over to the hospice to visit him that evening. He was “out of it” and so we just sat there for about a half-hour while I reminisced with Jill about the times I shared with Jeff and my memories of him throughout the years I had known him. We went back to visit about a week later, but he had passed.

Jeff was a good friend. Although I hadn’t visited with him in quite awhile, I thought of him often and wondered how he was “getting along” in life. We had worked together for a number of years, some of which included traveling around the country in our various business pursuits.

I have a number of fond memories and experiences I shared with Jeff over the years. He was an interesting and entertaining person to be around. He loved cars, trucks, NASCAR, and anything that was fast. We talked quite frequently on the phone about the state of the country, the economy, and the humorous life situations that we encountered in our travels.

Jeff’s funeral services went well and I met some old friends that I hadn’t seen in a long time. Jill and I traveled to Levan for the graveside services which went off without a “hitch” except for a light rain. Levan is a small farming community located south of Spanish Fork about forty minutes away traveling by car.

I will miss Jeff and the fun times we spent together. I hate how “life” interferes with relationships. The inevitability of change and the demands of life invariably draws us away from spending the time that we would like to with our friends and loved ones. However, that is how “it” inevitably plays out as I am experiencing more and more during the aging process!
